About Hernandez Lawnscape: Baton Rouge's Drainage-First Landscaping Company Since 2013
Founded in 2013 with a mower and a trailer. Still owner-led, still walking every job.
The story
Hernandez Lawnscape started in 2013 in Denham Springs with a mower, a trailer, and an owner who cared about the details other crews skipped: the clean edge along the driveway, the weeds pulled out of the concrete cracks, the small debris picked up before leaving. One early customer noticed the work at a neighbor's house and asked Gerardo over. More than a decade later the same crew maintains that customer's lawn, their grandmother's, and their parents' property too.
Today Hernandez Lawnscape is a full landscape company serving Baton Rouge and Livingston Parish from two locations. It designs and renovates landscapes, solves drainage problems, installs artificial turf, and installs and repairs sprinkler systems under a state irrigation license. Year-round maintenance plans keep long-time customers looking their best.
What has not changed is the approach. Gerardo does not sell what the yard does not need. He finds where the water goes first, and builds the landscape on top of a fix that lasts.
I approached Mr. Hernandez several years ago (2014?) whenever I saw the detailed work he was doing at my neighbor's house. After talking with him for just a minute, I felt confident that his business was right for me. Since that day, he has been maintaining my lawn and my grandmother's, and a couple of years ago he began maintaining my parents' property, as well. ... I could not be more pleased with Hernandez Lawnscape. Excellent service all around...5 stars!
One household, three family properties, maintained for more than a decade.

The owner
Meet Gerardo Hernandez
Gerardo Hernandez founded Hernandez Lawnscape in Denham Springs in 2013 with a mower and a trailer. He still walks every job, draws the landscape designs himself in Morpholio Trace, and diagnoses drainage the practical way: find the last spot to dry, trench from there, and run pipe at a steady fall to a real discharge point.
“It could have been fine three years ago, but somebody added a slab next door, and now it's blocking you.”

Mission
To build Baton Rouge landscapes that look beautiful on day one, drain properly in a Louisiana downpour, and still look right two years later, with honest advice, licensed work and an owner's eye on every job.
Vision
To be the Capital Region's first call when a homeowner wants their yard done once and done right, from the drainage underneath to the plants on top, and a trusted crew they keep for years.
- 01
Water first
A landscape that floods is not finished. Grade, drainage and irrigation come before anything decorative.
- 02
Honest scope
Recommend what the yard needs, not what carries the biggest markup. Say "you don't need that" when it is true.
- 03
Detail you notice next door
Clean edges, tidy job sites and careful finish work. The neighbors are watching, and that is how new customers find us.
- 04
Built for year two
Success is measured seasons later. Warranty what we control and be straight about what no one can.
